Welcome, my name is Bernadette

I am a qualified Physiotherapist, Health Coach, Yoga and Pilates instructor. I came to Health Coaching through my work as a physiotherapist in the NHS. Over the years I’ve come across lots of people who want to make sustainable changes to their health and wellbeing but are unsure of how to go about it, where to go for advice and how to implement change. Working as a Health Coach gives me the opportunity to support people to take control of their own health and wellbeing, and empower them to make lasting change as they work towards their goals.

My introduction to yoga started with Ashtanga whilst travelling around Australia many moons ago. I’d read that yoga could improve flexibility and strength, which I definitely needed having spent many years sat at a desk. Over the years my practice has changed as my knowledge and understanding of yoga has developed. I now use my teachings and personal practice to still the mind mind, to be fully present in the moment with the postures and movement to help find clarity in a busy world where there is ever present noise.

My yoga teaching takes it’s influence from a number of different styles including vinyasa flow (flowing movements) to help connect the mind and body, restorative yoga, hatha and yin yoga. Sometimes these movements are slow and held for longer whilst other times they are more dynamic. I encourage students to listen to the inherent wisdom of their own bodies.

ggmmm

My pilates teaching uses my knowledge of physiotherapy to help improve strength and postural alignment. The postures I teach are based on the Joseph Pilates’ foundations, but with adaptations made to posture to make it accessible to everyone, whether looking to stay fit or recovering from an injury. My focus is on getting you to move in a more instinctive way, to listen to your body and to connect to your breathing.

Individual classes are in a minimum of blocks of six at£165.00. Group classes prices will need to be discussed as it depends on the space you have available for you and your friends. Yes but this is more for clients that have been with me for some time or on the ‘odd occasion’. To give you the most in each session, it’s better to have in person classes so that minor adjustments can be made or suggested based on your own body’s needs for movement.

I am in the process of building my studio so watch this space for updates as group classes will be offered once the space is ready. For now, the group classes I teach are normally small groups of friends, families or pregnant ladies that come together weekly in a person’s home. Or, I also teach corporate group classes at a business’s premise.

I teach individual classes or family classes that can be just for your children. Classes can also include children with disabilities. I also teach children from home schooling pods where you have the space available and in mainstream schools. Contact me using the form above and we can set up a call to chat about your needs.

I come to you. So long as you have arm expanded space, it doesn’t matter on the size of your room. The most important part is to support you in your goal to wellbeing. I find by teaching you in your individual space means there is one less barrier to possible resistance, especially in the depths of Winter when it’s easier to fall out of practice if you have to leave your cosy home for a class on a wet windy day.

Classes will be tailored to your individual needs. If you have underlying health conditions you will need to check with your medical adviser to ensure you are okay to do exercise.

No, I will not do assessments or any physio consultations with you. Although I will use my physio knowledge and experience to underpin your class, I will teach you yoga or Pilates and part of that teaching is that you learn how to commune with your own body, how you move, or need to start moving to either open up or protect your body.

The workshops are run quarterly and with limited numbers they fill up fast so acceptance is on a first come basis only. Upcoming workshop dates and locations will be announced via email. You can subscribe below or via my blog page to be kept informed of future workshops. Workshop cost is £45.00.
